Why saying "I Hate Technology" Can get you an iPad from Leo Laporte

This Morning, here in New Zealand, if memory served me correctly, We had our first BIG! Twitter News. A local Kiwi girl and current Unitec Student by the name of Lisa Etheridge @LisaTickledPink was part of a Social Experiment done by the crew at Twit.TV (an internet show about all things tech), the crew included the Tech King/Host himself Leo Laporte @leolaporte, Digg.com founder Kevin Rose @kevinrose, John C Davorak from CrankyGeeks.com and Clayton Morris of ClaytonMorris.com.

How did all this came about ? The group was talking about how Conan O’Brien had announced he was following a random person to change their lives. So the Twit Crew decided they could do the same thing and then some. So Kevin Rose got onto twitter Live on the Show and did a search on the keyword, "I Hate Technology" and they stumble upon Lisa Etheridge Twitter account.

Leo Laporte, who's Twitter Account boast over 100 thousand followers, he encourages all his followers to follow Lisa Etheridge, so far she is on 14 thousand followers and growing. Not only she is getting all these followers, Leo Laporte is also throwing in an iPad as a gift (Note: the iPad won't arrive in New Zealand until June or July) So Lisa will be the first in New Zealand to get her hands on it.

RadioWammo of Kiwi Fm had an exclusive interview with the star of all this, Lisa Etheridge and including special guest Leo Laporte, Here is the Video.

What Lisa Ethridge has achieved here, would take the average twitterer 2 to 3 years to get to or even more in terms of followers, but with getting an iPad it's priceless, Lisa achieve all this in her first 2 days of being on Twitter. The Great thing about Lisa is she is very humble by all this, and she is using this Buzz to push and promote a good cause she is working as part of her School Project.

Giving Back to the Twittersphere is a good way to describe what Leo Laporte did for Lisa. Would we start to see more top industry twitterer's follow this concept of following a random twitterer and change their lives in some ways ? Conan O'Brien, Now Leo Laporte has done it, Who's Next ? Who do you see as the next Twitterer do something like this ?

Massive Congratulations again to Lisa Etheridge with her new found Fame and iPad :) whoever thought by tweeting, "I Hate Technology" will get you instant Fame and an iPad. That's the Crazy and Wonderful world of Twitter :)

Brilliant point in how powerful the Prometheus concept is- sphere's of influence mean everything. In layman terms it is the viral or network effect of an idea, meme, or brand, topic and person. now let us Hope she treats her gift well and her Tweeps don't leave her.
